About the event

Representatives from Ethiopia and Kenya will launch Climate-Smart Agriculture Investment Plans designed to align climate adaptation in agriculture with Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Panelists will discuss how the approach of these countries can be replicated across Africa.

In addition, the African Group of Negotiators Expert Support (AGNES) will showcase the Technical Guide for the Development of Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategies (LT-LEDS) intended to support African countries by providing practical description of the various steps needed to develop holistic and economy-wide LT-LEDS.

Objectives

The session has three main objectives:

  1. Policy Alignment

Showcase how Climate-Smart Agriculture Investment Plans can address both adaptation and mitigation goals by aligning with policies/strategies such as Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategies (LT-LEDS) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and discuss how to effectively integrate these plans into existing policy frameworks.

  2. Promote Knowledge Sharing and Exchange

Provide a platform for sharing best practices, lessons, and case studies from Kenya, Ethiopia and Zambia, focusing on mobilizing finance, scaling climate-smart agriculture (CSA), and achieving both food security and climate action objectives. Share the AGNES technical guide on developing LT-LEDS in Africa.

  3. Fostering Public-Private Sector Partnerships

Explore how public-private partnerships can mobilize technical and financial resources to scale CSA and advance low-carbon agricultural investments, fostering collaboration for sustainable growth.
