AICCRA Zambia launch AgDataHub and I2G; host investor roundtable
AICCRA Zambia Accelerator Program Investor Roundtable
The AICCRA Zambia Accelerator Program is curating a cohort of 14 climate-smart agri-SMEs, clustered into five innovation bundles and working along multiple value chains and regions in Zambia. Over the last six months, AICCRA Zambia has been working closely with these SMEs to scale research innovations into the Zambian agricultural sector. To achieve the ambitious target of reaching 300.000 smallholder farmers through the program, AICCRA provides 50.000 USD in de-risking grants per bundle as well as tailor-made technical assistance in the form of scientific advisory and investment readiness. AICCRA also measures climate-smart indicators, providing the science-based evidence for the impact that our SMEs are generating.
Our high-caliber SMEs are looking for access to other types of finance and investment. We will host a Demo Day in September 2022 to connect our SMEs to suitable investors. In preparation for this event, we want to have an investor roundtable with key players from the Zambian (impact) investment landscape. We want to present our approach and to gain an understanding of the expectations that public, concessional or private investors raise towards our science-driven accelerator program.

Workshop: Establishment and sustainable operation of the AgDataHub in Zambia
AICCRA Zambia is in the process to develop an AgDataHub with the overarching goal towards a data ecosystem to support blending of climate science and agriculture through technology and partnerships. The AgDataHub will be anchored and owned by SMART Zambia Institute while co-creation of the end-product will be done with anticipated next users.
This session presents an opportunity for the various stakeholders to reflect on strategies to strengthen their collaboration on data sharing as an input to the AgDataHub and how to effectively benefit from its output. The session intends to provide insights on how the output from the AgDataHub can enhance the dissemination of CIS and CSA among end users to increase productivity and resilience.

Hosted in Zambia by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), AICCRA-Zambia partner with national universities and private sector entities to implement the internship and innovation grant program with the private sector (I2G program) to generate capabilities of individuals and institutions to deliver on the ‘translational research’ into business and commercialization.
The I2G program supports young entrepreneurs and young professionals through the private sector working experience and demand-driven innovation development. The overall objective of I2G program is to build greater trust, knowledge sharing, and collaboration between the private sector, public sector, and research institutions that, in turn, contribute to an enabling environment to scale CSA-CIS bundles in an economically and environmentally sustainable way.
The I2G program has been implemented through five modalities:
- The internship with private sector entities
- CSA-CIS hackathon for innovation development
- Business incubation for innovation commercialization
- CSA-CIS demand-driven research
- CSA-CIS integration into educational curriculums.

Workshop: How media and communications networks reach agricultural communities in Zambia
AICCRA Zambia supports diverse media channels that create and stimulate a partnership ecosystem to disseminate climate information service and climate smart agriculture to farming communities in Zambia.
This session provides an opportunity for media companies, government organizations, farmer representatives and researchers to reflect upon the diverse communication and outreach activities, and how they intend to strengthen the acceleration of climate smart agriculture (CSA) innovations and practices along value chains, for farmers to practice CSA on their farms.
The session will bring out insights and lessons how communications can strengthen networks more effectively, in collaboration with the AICCRA partners.
