Bio

Edith has over 30 years of executive level experience in international development, program management, research, and rural transformation in Africa and Asia. She has technical expertise in climate change, sustainability, agriculture and ICTs for development. Currently with the African Development Bank Group, Edith leads a $25 billion partnership initiative, the African Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP), aimed at scaling up and accelerating climate action in Africa. She also oversees the Banks work on climate change and green growth in anglophone West Africa. Prior to this, Edith worked with Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC). She led IDRC’s flagship Acacia Program, a multimillion dollar initiative, that pioneered research on the transformative effects of ICTs in key development sectors in Africa. An agricultural scientist and economist by training, she started as a Senior Agricultural Officer with Kenya’s Ministry of Agriculture. Her work was instrumental in improving food security for populations in arid and semi-arid regions of Kenya.
