What’s your role at AICCRA and the journey that led you here?

I coordinate with regional, theme and country teams on design and implementation of gender-and socially-inclusive approaches to climate smart agriculture and agro-advisory hubs.

In my work with the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), I worked with researchers in 5 regions on understanding the gender dimensions of adoption and benefit from climate-smart agriculture. I also coordinated the development of conceptual frameworks on gender and CSA, including a Gender Empowerment Index, a CSA scaling framework that is gender- and socially-inclusive, labour-reducing technologies, and the critical gender equality components of CSA.

I am also a member of the Sub-committee on Systemic Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation in Agricultural, Nutrition, and Food Systems, for the USAID Board for International Food and Agricultural Development (BIFAD); Co-editor at Gender, Technology and Development, and reviewer for the FCDO-IDRC Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CLARE) initiative.

Tell us why you think AICCRA can help deliver a climate-smart future for Africa?

AICCRA is building on the strength of a global program on gender and social inclusion that spanned 5 regions of experience in climate-smart approaches and practices.
