The AICCRA-Ethiopia team develop ground-breaking partnerships to deploy the knowledge, innovation and technology needed for effective climate information services and climate-smart agriculture in Ethiopia.

Agriculture remains central to the livelihoods of millions of people in Ethiopia, including women and youth. Our goal in the country is to enhance the resilience of farmers to climate change.

We aim to achieve this by strengthening the technical, institutional and human capacity of national institutions and other key stakeholders (such as the Ethiopian Agricultural Research Institute) to more effectively deploy climate information services and validated packages of technology and innovation for climate-smart agriculture.

AICCRA-Ethiopia also supports other key decision-makers, notably community leaders and farmers groups.

Our work seeks to modernise Ethiopian climate and weather-related services, while integrating weather and climate data into seasonal forecasting and early warning systems.

The AICCRA-Ethiopia team focus on:

  • Generating and sharing knowledge
  • Developing climate-informed agricultural advisory services and decision-making tools
  • Strengthening partnerships to deliver climate-smart innovation in agriculture
  • Validating innovations in climate-smart agriculture through pilot programmes
